Service delivery slow, water leak repaired 3 weeks later

-

RICHARD KHAN WRITES:

I’ve tried unsuccessfully to get Johannesburg Water to repair a burst water pipe on Dolly Rathebe Street, a road I use every morning to get to work.

I logged a call on their website three weeks ago, to no avail and no action.

I’ve tried calling and received an escalation reference number, but these numbers don’t guarantee action.

Also, the municipal elections are over so there is a go-slow revival with service delivery.

They do respond to emails on customerserviceemails@ jwater.co.za but nothing is done.

The leak is quite extensive – easily about a few thousand litres of water wasted per day.

Who holds the municipality accountable for water waste? They are only interested, as always, in penalising soft targets – the tax-paying suburban citizens.

KHAN WRITES AGAIN:

They finally repaired this leak about three weeks later.
