Hlaudi gives the SCA the middle finger

- Russell Ongley

ONE OFTEN hears of a court order being blatantly ignored, usually by some or other government department or official.

It does not appear that there is any action taken against the person(s) ignoring such court orders.

The ANC has now urged the SABC to respect the decision of the Supreme Court of Appeal (SCA) in the Hlaudi Motsoeneng matter.

Since when must an individual or an entity have to be “urged” to respect the decision of a court of law, in this case an Appeal Court, no less?

This appears to be a clear case of contempt of court, and if so, the question begs to be asked, just what is the SCA going to do about it?

This matter is dragging on with Mr Motsoeneng and the SABC doing just what the hell they please and in the process showing the SCA the proverbial middle finger.

What would happen to you or me if we blatantly ignored a court order?

Would we be left in peace or would action be taken against us? I suppose that would depend on how politically connected we were. Great Brak River, Western Cape
