No library internet, no pools

-

SHAUN PINN WRITES:

It has been an ongoing battle to use the free internet services at the Sandton library because of stolen cables and the lacklustre attempt by those responsible for repairing the damage.

It’s well over a month and the service is still not available. There has been no further explanation or desire to restore it.

Those of us who can’t afford the internet in our home use this internet to find employment.

It is frustrating also for those working at the library.

The issue was not at the Sandton library – the library was impacted by a problem at the Metro Centre building.

There was a power failure and we lost a switch which controls fibre connectivity. This was attended to and resolved.

An internal message regarding the connectivity break was issued and will always be issued to alert staff so they can inform clients, but staff are not in a position to fix the problem or say when it will be sorted out. We apologise to clients for this.
