Sol­dier granted bail in ammo case

A mem­ber of the SANDF, ar­rested for il­le­gal pos­ses­sion of am­mu­ni­tion, has been granted bail in the Pha­l­aborwa Mag­is­trate’s Court, Lim­popo po­lice said yes­ter­day. The 40-yearold was ar­rested with a Sene­galese man in Pha­l­aborwa on Satur­day. “The SANDF mem­ber was spot­ted car­ry­ing a bag in Spekboom Street in Pha­l­aborwa. The po­lice re­quested to search him and found 663 rounds of am­mu­ni­tion for a 7.63 ri­fle. The sec­ond man was nabbed on the same day at his house after 17 rounds of am­mu­ni­tion for a 9mm pis­tol were found in his pos­ses­sion,” said po­lice spokesper­son Bri­gadier Mot­lafela Mo­japelo. Both men have been charged with the il­le­gal pos­ses­sion of am­mu­ni­tion. The SANDF mem­ber was granted bail of R1 000 while his co-ac­cused was re­manded in cus­tody. In­ves­ti­ga­tions are continuing. – ANA
