Soldier granted bail in ammo case
A member of the SANDF, arrested for illegal possession of ammunition, has been granted bail in the Phalaborwa Magistrate’s Court, Limpopo police said yesterday. The 40-yearold was arrested with a Senegalese man in Phalaborwa on Saturday. “The SANDF member was spotted carrying a bag in Spekboom Street in Phalaborwa. The police requested to search him and found 663 rounds of ammunition for a 7.63 rifle. The second man was nabbed on the same day at his house after 17 rounds of ammunition for a 9mm pistol were found in his possession,” said police spokesperson Brigadier Motlafela Mojapelo. Both men have been charged with the illegal possession of ammunition. The SANDF member was granted bail of R1 000 while his co-accused was remanded in custody. Investigations are continuing. – ANA
