Trio netted in police operations
THREE men were arrested in KwaZulu-Natal on Monday for possession of illegal firearms and ammunition, police said. Spokesperson Lieutenant-Colonel Thulani Zwane said Durban’s public order police, assisted by the Crime Intelligence Unit, conducted operations in Umkomaas, KwaMakhutha and Folweni on Monday and arrested the trio. “One was in possession of three unlicensed pistols with ammunition,” said Zwane. The suspects, aged between 38 and 45, are to appear in court soon. Provincial commissioner Major-General Bheki Langa said: “Illegal firearms are used to kill innocent people in this province. Ballistic tests will determine if the guns were used in hijackings, business robberies and house robberies.” – ANA
