Coach Corini part ways with Palermo

PALERMO coach Eu­ge­nio Corini has quit his job after seven Serie A league games at the helm of the Si­cily side, the ANSA news agency re­ported yes­ter­day. Corini, a for­mer mid­fielder with the Si­cil­ians, took over in Novem­ber from Roberto De Zerbi, who had re­placed Da­vide Bal­lar­dini two games into the sea­son. Un­der Corini, Palermo suf­fered five de­feats, clinch­ing a win and a draw. They sit sec­ond-last on 10 points from 21 games, with a gap of 11 points to the safety of fourth-last place as 17 matches re­main. Palermo, who went through eight dif­fer­ent coaches in the past sea­son, are re­port­edly in­tend­ing to name a new coach for Sun­day’s game at Napoli.
