‘We’ve come a long way’

-

BRIGHTROCK chief executive Schalk Malan said on Friday that the company had come a long way since it was founded in 2011.

The company had grown strongly over the past five years, now boosting R148 billion cover in force and more than R611 million annualised premium income. BrightRock is the fast growing life insurance player in the country.

“Our involvement with Sanlam will allow us to grow aggressively. It has not been easy to start the business, but with the support we received from Lombard Insurance Group, our founding investors since inception, has been great,” said Malan.

New territories

He said a big industry player like Sanlam would ensure that BrightRock kept on charting new territories. “We will have access to capital and grow our market share even bigger than it is. We are currently achieving 72 percent year-on-year premium income,” he said.

Now that company had managed to survive the growth pains like starting on new slate, creating new distribution channels and building the brand, Malan said he could not wait to see the company taking off even higher going forward. – Sandile Mchunu
