EN PASSANT

- Jack Masekoameng Muhammad Omar

MR MASHABA, I would like to suggest that you investigate the tuk-tuks which are operating in Auckland Park. We heard that the drivers don’t have valid permits and drivers licences. I would like to find out how the tuktuks operate because taxis operate with a licence and are impounded if they operate without one. Taxis are also not allowed to park at the Campus Square basement parking but tuk-tuks are allowed. Riverlea, Joburg

The ANCYL has woken up late in the game regarding the Bankorp SARB bailout, which was done by the government before democracy. What is more interesting was that the ANCYL is silent when Eskom, under Brian Molefe, advanced R659 million interest free and no security to Gupta/Zumalinked Tegeta Mining to buy the Optimum Coal Mine.

Technically the Absa loan may have prescribed, but of greater interest is the Tegeta Eskom loan which flouts every rule of corporate governance in 2016.

The same where investigations are under way regarding the payment of R600m to supposed housing contractors in the Free State which disappeared into thin air. Here again the ANCYL is silent. Maybe the ANCYL should stage a sit-in at the shareholders’ residences of Tegeta and protest for the millions to be repaid. Durban North
