Cape Town set for wind, rain, cold

CAPETONIANS should brace them­selves for heavy rains, strong winds and cold con­di­tions this week, the Western Cape Lo­cal Gov­ern­ment Depart­ment warned yes­ter­day. “Ad­verse weather is ex­pected across the Western Cape from Tuesday evening con­tin­u­ing into Thurs­day,” the depart­ment said. “Ex­ten­sive gale-force winds, high seas and cold weather, including snow, on the high-ly­ing ar­eas can be ex­pected.” MEC An­ton Bre­dell said while rain­fall was wel­come, here could be flood­ing, mud­slides and in­for­mal-set­tle­ment fires. Dis­as­ter man­age­ment teams would be on standby, he said. – ANA
