7 die in Afghan blast

HERAT: Up to seven people were confirmed dead and 17 others injured after a bomb blast rocked the western Herat city of Afghanista­n yesterday, provincial police chief Mohammad Ayub Ansari said.

All victims are civilians including women and children, added Ansari, saying the explosive device was planted in a motorbike and detonated next to the grand mosque in Herat city, 640km west of Kabul.

Earlier in the day, a blast shocked Kabul city during an internatio­nal conference on the peace process in Afghanista­n, attended by delegates from across the globe. Xinhua –
