Xi, Putin vow to work for free global trade

MOSCOW: Chi­nese Pres­i­dent Xi Jin­ping and his Rus­sian coun­ter­part Vladimir Putin have said the two coun­tries sup­port free global trade and the lead­ing role of the UN in global gov­er­nance.

China and Rus­sia sup­port an open, trans­par­ent, in­clu­sive and non-dis­crim­i­na­tory mul­ti­lat­eral trade sys­tem cen­tred on the World Trade Or­gan­i­sa­tion, the two pres­i­dents said.

They added their coun­tries are com­mit­ted to pro­mot­ing trade fa­cil­i­ta­tion mea­sures in the Asi­a­Pa­cific and fi­nally a free trade zone in the re­gion.

Putin and Xi vowed to en­hance co-or­di­na­tion within the Group of 20 to pro­mote ro­bust and in­clu­sive global growth and work to­gether to help the com­ing Ham­burg sum­mit reap re­wards on the ba­sis of last year’s Hangzhou sum­mit.
