Suicide bombs kill 16
ABUJA: At least 16 people were killed late on Tuesday in suicide bombings in north-eastern Nigeria, emergency services said yesterday.
Witnesses reported explosions near a restaurant, a security checkpoint and a court building in Maiduguri.
The fatalities included four female suicide bombers, said Alhaji Dan Bata from the Borno State Emergency Agency. About 20 people were reported to have been injured.
No group claimed responsibility. The radical Islamist group Boko Haram has carried out several suicide bombings in the area in recent months.
