‘Home Alone’ star John Heard dies

LOS ANGELES: American film and television actor John Heard, best known for his role as the dad in the Home Alone movies, has died, the medical examiner’s office in the Santa Clara County, California, said on Saturday.

The star of several huge 1980s and 1990s movies, died on Friday in Palo Alto, California.

He was found dead in a hotel by the maid service, reported TMZ, a celebrity news website, citing family sources.

Police were called to the hotel for a report of a medical emergency, but he was pronounced dead on the scene, according to the report.

The coroner is investigat­ing the cause of Heard’s death, but police do not suspect foul play, TMZ reported.

Heard was born on March 7, 1945, in Washington, D.C. and establishe­d himself as a respected actor in the late 1970s and early 1980s.

He was famous for playing his most memorable mainstream role as Peter McCalliste­r, the dad in Home Alone and Home Alone 2: Lost in New York. He also guest-starred in The Sopranos, for which he was nominated for an Emmy.
