‘Home Alone’ star John Heard dies

LOS AN­GE­LES: Amer­i­can film and tele­vi­sion ac­tor John Heard, best known for his role as the dad in the Home Alone movies, has died, the med­i­cal ex­am­iner’s of­fice in the Santa Clara County, Cal­i­for­nia, said on Satur­day.

The star of sev­eral huge 1980s and 1990s movies, died on Fri­day in Palo Alto, Cal­i­for­nia.

He was found dead in a ho­tel by the maid ser­vice, re­ported TMZ, a celebrity news web­site, cit­ing fam­ily sources.

Po­lice were called to the ho­tel for a re­port of a med­i­cal emer­gency, but he was pro­nounced dead on the scene, ac­cord­ing to the re­port.

The coro­ner is in­ves­ti­gat­ing the cause of Heard’s death, but po­lice do not sus­pect foul play, TMZ re­ported.

Heard was born on March 7, 1945, in Wash­ing­ton, D.C. and es­tab­lished him­self as a re­spected ac­tor in the late 1970s and early 1980s.

He was fa­mous for play­ing his most mem­o­rable main­stream role as Peter McCal­lis­ter, the dad in Home Alone and Home Alone 2: Lost in New York. He also guest-starred in The So­pra­nos, for which he was nom­i­nated for an Emmy.

He was mar­ried three times, most no­tably to Su­per­man star Mar­got Kid­der, for only six days in 1979 – Xin­hua
