Syria ceasefire broken
DAMASCUS: Syrian war planes carried out air strikes in the Ghouta area east of Damascus yesterday, despite an ongoing ceasefire in the area, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said.
The monitoring group said the air strikes hit the towns of Douma and Ain Terma in rebel-held Ghouta.
There was no immediate comment from the Syrian government or army.
Syria’s military declared a ceasefire starting at noon on Saturday in besieged Ghouta, long controlled by the opposition. The agreement had been reached in Cairo, sponsored by Egypt and Russia. Xinhua
