Telkom chief scores over R25m pay

TELKOM chief executive Sipho Maseko’s total remunerati­on and benefits increased by 78.5 percent – or by R11.39 million – to R25.9m in the 2017 financial year from R14.5m in the previous year, according to the company’s latest annual report. In Telkom’s 2016 financial year, Maseko’s total remunerati­on and benefits rose by 17.9 percent. Maseko’s total remunerati­on and benefits in the 2017 financial year included R7.44m as part of his guaranteed package, R8.8m in short-term incentives, R9.6m in long-term incentives in the form of vested shares and R11 997 in fringe and other benefits. The total remunerati­on and benefits paid to Telkom chief financial officer Deon Fredericks in the 2017 financial year increased by 42.6 percent – or R4.02m – to R13.48m from R9.45m in the previous year. His package and benefits included R5.25m as part of his guaranteed remunerati­on, R4.36m in short-term incentives, R3.85m in long-term incentives in the form of vested shares and R11 997 in fringe and other benefits.
