THERE is a treat for those who complete this year’s 5km Neon Run race in Joburg next month.

Event organisers have announced that once participants cross the finish line, they will be entertained by some of the country’s top musicians.

“After the race, the night will ignite with a fabulous music festival to keep the vibe going strong,” said Tavis Brown, special events director of Oomph-Africa, who is organising the event.

This includes the likes of 5FM DJs Nick Hamman and Kyle Cassim, and electronic dance duo The Kiffness.

They will be joined by Strange Loving, featuring Apple Gule, Monark and DJ Abby Nurock.

“We have confirmed a line-up that crackles with all the energy and excitement people associate with the race,” said Brown.

“The Neon Run is not just about getting over the finish line, it’s about enjoying the entire experience and glowing from start to end.”

The race and music festival combo is set to take place on September 2 at St Stithian’s College, Sandton.

Brown said the race element of the event included a new contained 5km course with a number of “activations” along the route.

For those who aren’t keen to sprint, there are other options.

“This family-friendly run can be done as a walk, a run, on skates, on a bicycle or even at a hop, skip and a jump,” said Brown.

“All that matters is that absolutely everybody has an electric time at this unique event.”

Brown said the Neon Run was an opportunity for participants to dress up in their brightest colours and stay until late, spending time with their loved ones or making new friends.

Doors for the Neon Run open at 2pm and the festival closes at 11.30pm.

Early bird tickets are limited and available at www.neonrun.co.za for R180, which includes some funky neon goodies.

Other options include bulk ticket discounts and there are corporate packages to choose from.
