UN fears for Gaza
BETHLEHEM : The UN High Commissioner for Human Rights office has expressed “deep concern” over the deteriorating situation in the besieged Gaza Strip, three months after the electricity supply was slashed by Israel at the behest of the Palestinian Authority.
The power cuts impede the provision of essential health, water and sanitation services and pose a life-threatening risk for vulnerable residents. “Israel, the State of Palestine, and the authorities in Gaza are not meeting their obligations to... protect the rights of the residents,” said the UN.
