Krejcir extradition case postponed

-

THE EXTRADITION case against jailed Czech fugitive Radovan Krejcir was postponed yesterday in the Kempton Park Magistrate’s Court. The convicted criminal, who reportedly tried to break out of jail, was brought to court amid tight security. Krejcir had handcuffs and was chained with leg irons. He also had a tracking device strapped around his waist. Inside the court, there were heavily armed policemen. Krejcir is serving a 35-year sentence for attempted murder, drug dealing and kidnapping. Krejcir complained to the court about the treatment he said he was receiving at Kgosi Mampuru Correctional Services facility in Pretoria. Prosecutor Johan du Toit said he would discuss Krejcir’s complaint with the head of the Kgosi Mampuru facility. The Czech fugitive, who was sentenced in absentia in 2012 to eight years for fraud in his home country, said he wants to be moved to Johannesburg Prison. Yesterday, Krejcir told the court that documents he had with him were taken away by the authorities. He said they told him that the documents would be given to his legal representative, Frank Cohen, but that never happened. Both cases were postponed to January 24. – ANA
