Colombia foes talk
MEMBERS of the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (Farc) and former paramilitaries, who used to fight each other in the past decades of Colombia’s armed conflict, have held talks in Bogota.
The conservative politician and mediator in the Havana peace negotiations, Alvaro Leyva Duran, said the meeting took place on Wednesday. “Both sides agreed to recognise that peace was a duty and a right for all citizens, and that reconciliation was the Colombian people’s deepest wish.”
The representatives discussed compensation for victims, disarmament and the peace process.
