Make a difference to the city’s green lungs

-

SPRUIT Day, tomorrow, is a day when those living along the Braamfontein Spruit organise events and clean-ups of the river and the river banks.

The Blairgowrie Community Association (BCA) said the event would be held again with 20 residents’ associations participating.

Spruit Day is a co-ordinated restoration, improvement and clean-up of the spruit and creates an excellent opportunity for those living in the area to spend a morning together making a difference to their areas, and get to know each other.

This year’s activities in northern councillor Tim Truluck’s ward include: Parkhurst/Victory Park: From 9am to noon: meet at the green pedestrian bridge accessed via the gate at the bottom of Parkhurst Road/12th Street and Zonda Avenue/Rustenburg Road, Victory Park, to take part in the clean-up. Parkhurst Residents Association’s Jacques Hough is leading this group.

What to wear: comfortable clothes, a hat and sturdy shoes.

What to bring: sunscreen, water and gloves. Refuse bags will be supplied.
