THE NEW Hyde Park Cortina Court, which comprises new standalone stores for Emporio Armani, Versace, Jigsaw and Longchamp Paris, opened last night.
These are the first standalone stores for these haute couture brands in South Africa.
The launch was held last night, with blue chip invited guests, celebrities and media in attendance.
The event was a build-up to the Jaguar South Africa-presented SA Style Awards, which are taking place on Sunday night at the same venue.
Guests were treated to a performance by Tamara Dey and her quaint Shoo Wop girl group.
The gold-curated food also included decadent gold caviar. The host for the night was Gareth Cliff.
Guests also enjoyed the futuristic virtual fitting room, where MWeb WiFi has installed software to create a magic mirror that tracks a user’s size and movements.
The idea is to stand in front of the screen and choose outfits that will fit your on-screen body without having to undress.
The clothing is available on a cloud and is an example of how humans can virtually shop in the future.
By using the internet fitting rooms, which could be integrated into people’s homes, they will be able to try the clothes on and then order online.
The futuristic fitting rooms will be exhibited until Monday. – Therese Owen
