USB ranked top in PMR Africa Review

-

THE University of Stellenbosch Business School is ranked the top school in the 2015 Professional Management Review (PMR. africa) annual survey.

It is the fifth consecutive year that the business school has earned the Diamond Arrow award for this achievement. The respondents are employers of employees who are studying at or who have graduated from accredited business schools offering MBA and MBL degrees in South Africa.

Responding to this latest achievement, USB director Prof Piet Naudé says: “This confirms that USB’s students are highly regarded in the marketplace.

“We remain committed to deliver the next generation of business leaders that will shape economic thinking and business practice in South Africa, Africa and the global community.”

He emphasises, however, that while this accolade is an important one, the USB has always regarded international accreditations as an excellent indicator of the quality of a business school.

“This approach,” he adds, “makes sense for a school that has celebrated its 50th year anniversary by becoming the first African business school to be awarded all three major international accreditations – EQUIS, AACSB and AMBA.

“Currently, the USB is also the only business school in Africa with a five-year EQUIS accreditation which is the highest level awarded by the European accreditation body.”

Prof Marlize Terblanche-Smit, head of the MBA programme, says it is imperative that a business school continuously ups its game.

“The MBA remains the best vehicle to equip managers with the necessary skills to lead in culturally diverse and global environments – and the PMR survey shows many employers do realise that.”

The USB will introduce a new, shorter MBA programme from 2016. This will be a 1-year Fulltime and 2-year Modular MBA, tailor-made for busy executives on the go.
