Get rid of your Note7

-

LOOKING to hand in your possibly explosive Samsung Galaxy Note7? Samsung South Africa has set up exchange kiosks at OR Tambo, Cape Town and King Shaka airports.

Director of integrated mobility at Samsung South Africa Craige Fleische said their main concern was the safety of their customers.

“We are supporting the global recall of the Galaxy Note7. It is a priority for us to collect the affected devices from owners and replace them with a Galaxy S7 Edge smartphone or a full refund.

“We are kindly asking customers owning a Galaxy Note7 to please follow the exchange programme process and return the device.”

The decision came after the global recall of the device and its being banned from flights. Last week, the National Consumer Commission convened a meeting with Samsung Electronics South Africa about the recall.

NCC commissioner Ebrahim Mohamed said South Africans were lucky the defects had been detected before the phone was launched in the country.

“The use of defective and hazardous products, particularly those that are electronic and motorised in nature, can have devastating consequences for consumers.

“The NCC is relieved that the mobile phone was recalled before especially children, who are prone to keep up with technology trends, could be exposed to its risks.”

Customers can also exchange their Galaxy Note7 at any Samsung service centre. – Staff Reporter
