TV PRESENTER AND QUEEN OF THE VILLAGE
Jessica Nkosi spreads her wings
JESSICA NKOSI loved her time on Mzansi Magic’s Our Perfect Wedding.
The actress presented the show for a few months while the regular host Thembisa Mdoda was having a break.
“The experience was lifechanging. I got to do what I always wanted to do, present a TV show. I saw the growth with each episode I did,” she said.
Nkosi said working on a reality show had enabled her to meet interesting people.
“The stories you get to tell and the fact that it was a love show was a bonus.
“We all love and we can relate to it. It’s a universal language, it saves, it protects, it heals, it forgives.
“And what a privilege it was for me to witness that first hand,” she said.
Nkosi said if ever the opportunity to host a show presented itself, she would go for it.
Now that Mdoda is back from her holiday, Nkosi is focusing full-time on playing her Isibaya character, Qondi.
The role has seen Nkosi learn to stretch her acting skills from playing a young naive girl to becoming the queen of the people in her village.
Qondi has experienced much pain after leaving the love of her life and being tortured by her now deceased husband.
“What was important for me was to stay true to who she is.
“For me, interpreting the character was important – her personality could not change.”
Nkosi said Qondi had to continue being who she was because that was the character people had fallen in love with.
This was Nkosi’s first acting role and it continues to be a central part of the telenovela.
“As Qondi rules the entire village, she will face big and difficult decisions.
“She will have to break out of her comfort zone and do things she has never done or thought she would do, to once again save her family.”
Nkosi acted in the TV drama Ayeye, alongside Thapelo Mokoena and SK Khoza.
She is the face of Clinique and last year was part of a global campaign with Gina Rodriquez, Erendira Ibarra, Victoria Pendleton, Nazan Eckes and Ning Chang for the cosmetics company.
She celebrates her 27th birthday tomorrow and says she hopes that this year will be full of growth.
