Perhaps SA needs to be run as a business, as US is doing

- JM Bouvier

IT SEEMS that the general opinion of Donald Trump is only negative.

Perhaps the American nation and other countries around the world should stop being so negative and stop whimpering and whining and just give the guy a fair go.

His approach to running the country might actually work.

He is a very successful businessman and not a politician and has surrounded himself with people from the business community who are all successful and billionaires.

Running the country is like running a business and maybe this is the solution.

Maybe that is what we need in our country and not squandering billions year in and year out like there is no tomorrow – and see where it got us.

Because politicians tend to let politics get in the way of their decisions, as we have seen repeatedly in South Africa with idiotic and unqualified appointments and decisions with negative effects, the results are to the detriment of the country, its economy and its people.

Businessmen tend to make decisions without the burden of making unpopular decisions because it is the right decision to make.

They do not worry about the political cost as the politicians do.

Trump is the elected president and as such deserves the right to run his government as he sees fit, and from what he have said so far it is going to be as a business.

What disappoints me though is Barack Obama’s insistence that he will speak out whenever Donald Trump does something he disagrees with.

To my mind, the former president Obama has had his time and it is Trump’s turn now, so let’s give him some breathing space and the benefit of the doubt.

Let history decide on the outcome of his presidency .
