IT’S JUST over two months to go to the South Africa Bike Festival at Kyalami on May 26-38, and tickets for the Circuit Test Rides have gone on sale.

This is the only opportunity in the motorcycle calender where the public can test-ride and compare different bikes around Kyalami.

Circuit Test Rides are on sale via a password-protected test-ride website. Only those with tickets to the Festival are eligible to book these and those who already have their festival tickets will be sent their unique password ahead of time.

Following the successful inaugural event last year, the three-day South Africa Bike Festival, powered by Discovery Channel, returns to Kyalami with brands including BMW, Husqvarna Indian Motorcycles, KTM, Yamaha, Honda, Suzuki and Harley-Davidson. Visitors can also look forward to welcoming the Can-Am Spyder for the first time, as well as new motorcycle brand, Zontes Motorcycles, which has just landed in South Africa.

Honda will be using South Africa Bike Festival as a platform to launch the much-anticipated CBR 1000 RR Fireblade and this superbike will also be available for test rides.

New launch models include KTM’s 1290 Super Duke R, Super Duke 390 and a new Adventure Range.

Yamaha will be unveiling their new R6 and Anassis Racing are bringing with them a Yamaha R1 to give away to one lucky South African.

The Festival will also host a round of the DEOD SuperGP Champions Trophy race series, with over 30 of SA’s top superbike riders battling it out.

Adventure Ride Outs will be available over the surrounding prison lands at the back of Kyalami Grand Prix Circuit for those who prefer an adventurous off-road experience.

Other highlights include live music bands, A RocoMama’s Custom Bike competition staged by Bike SA magazine, and a Pride of Ownership Classic Motorcycle Display. In the latter, all

those with motorcycles dating 1995 and older can nominate their classic motorcycle to be one of thirty to be hosted.

On Sunday 28 May the Dunlop Sunday Charity Motorcycle Ride will see thousands of motorcyclists being able to ride their own motorcycles around Kyalami as the ride finishes with two laps in formation around the circuit.

Entry ticket prices to the Festival start at R200 per person while children under 10 enter for free.

Circuit Test Ride tickets cost between R60 and R160 a ride, depending on motorcycle.
