New bosses of Joburg municipal entities have a challengin­g task

AT THE city’s 2015/16 annual general meeting for municipal entities last week, Joburg mayor Herman Mashaba said the city had struggled to achieve service delivery levels that were satisfacto­ry for its residents.

He challenged the entities’ top decision-makers to engage in an exercise of introspect­ion to critically examine the city’s performanc­e. Mashaba also announced the new chairperso­ns of the entities.

Lael Bethlehem Bethlehem has extensive experience working on the boards of various institutio­ns, including two internatio­nal NGOs.

City Power: Pikitup:

Bhekisisa Shongwe Shongwe has acquired extensive business experience as an accountant, financial manager and senior executive in major corporatio­ns.

Doris Dondur

Dondur has extensive experience in the public sector and corporate governance. She has served in the office of the auditor-general as the auditor for Gauteng and has previously served on the board of City Power as chairperso­n.
