Why we need a new Eskom board

ESKOM’S board should be dissolved. It compromised the power utility’s brand values, business ethics and reputation management.

It also compromised its corporate governance, transparency, accountability, responsibility, credibility, honesty, respect, and transmission and distribution of electricity.

No efforts were made to prevent the scourge of malfunctioning strategic business units, especially generation, and combating corrupt activities and practices.

Did it really scrutinise its own mandate, vision, mission and strategy?

If it did, I don’t agree with its methodology and approach, especially when one reviews Eskom’s “Eight Dimensions of Sustainability”.

I should have identified that the trust in the relationship between Eskom and its former chief executive, Brian Molefe has irretrievably broken down, due to his “job hopping” initiatives.

They should also have charged him for breach of his employment contract, dereliction of his duties and accountabilities, gross negligence, desertion, going awol (on unpaid leave), gross misconduct, insubordination, reckless behaviour, bringing the organisation into disrepute and more.

That’s why I’m recommending that the Eskom board be dissolved. Mekoa Sereme Sebokeng
