ROCK The Mother

Tongue comedy show is set to start at Carnival City Big Top Arena, Johannesburg on July 22.

The show, hosted by Mashabela Galane, pictured, an awardwinning comedian, brings together the country’s most talented and funniest acts for a vernacular spectacular.

The performance will be recorded, and packaged as a DVD.

Galane is a well-known vernacular comedian who has been in the comedy industry for over 10 years. Rock The Mother Tongue initiative was founded five years ago, with the goal to offer upcoming comedians a platform to get them recognised within the industry.

Young comedians get to showcase their vernacular set of comedy to new audiences at the theatre. The comedians on the line-up come from different provinces, with the aim to cover all the vernacular languages. This includes comics from KwaZulu-Natal, Limpopo, Free State, North West, Eastern Cape, and all the Gauteng-based comedians. Rock The Mother Tongue comedy crew promises a night of non-stop laughs for comedy lovers. Tickets are available from R150 per person through Computicket.
