NEDBANK officially launched its newest branch at the Alex Mall in Alexandra, Sandton.

Nedbank said it was committed to increasing access to banking in growing communities across South Africa and was proud to cement a solid bond in Alexandra, where the bank has, through the Nedbank Foundation, carried out a number of CSI projects in the area.

They include supporting the SU Ikemeleng Youth Centre with R130 000 since 2013, and Nedbank staff volunteers giving extra lessons for Grade 5 to 7 pupils from Zenzeleni Primary School since 2011.

A heartbeat away from Sandton – regarded by many as South Africa’s economic hub – Alex was dear to the heart of Nedbank, as it was a community with vast social and economic needs, Nedbank’s Brigitte Ryder said.

In May, the bank launched its Nedbank Ke Yona Steel of Ring initiative in Alex, aligned to the Nedbank Cup, which took place in Durban on June 24.

“As Nedbank, we will continue to use Alex to tell our stories through the eyes of the many people in the growing community. It is our desire as money experts to bank the community and the small business sector, showing them how their money can work for them, and helping the SME sector to create jobs and grow the economy,” said Ryder.

“Opening this branch in Alex will allow local residents and the community and small business to enjoy banking services without having to travel to large malls, creating convenient banking.

“Nedbank believes money well managed can make a real difference to people’s lives.”
