best XI team of the WEEK
THE Diski Challenge derby weekend produced an entertaining spectacle at King Zwelithini Stadium in Umlazi on Saturday and Sunday.
SuperSport United and Golden Arrows were the biggest winners, annihilating their rivals which sees them dominate our Team of the Week. AmaZulu left the field battered and bruised after Abafana Bes’thende gave them a 5-0 drubbing on Saturday. It could have been much worse, given Arrows dominance. Nduduzo Sibiya and Andile Fikizolo had a field day with Usuthu. Sibiya and Fikizolo stretched out Usuthu on either flanks to open them up before punishing them. Sibiya and Fikizolo complete a midfield that also features SuperSport United’s Sipho Mbule and Masilakhe Phohlongo of Ajax Cape Town.
Mbule’s performance for Matsatsantsa was vital as coach Eric Tinkler could give him a start against TP Mazembe this Sunday in Lubumbashi in the first leg of the Caf Confederation Cup to fill the void of the suspended Reneilwe Letsholonyane.
Mbule is an exciting midfielder who already has international experience thanks to his exploits with Bafana Bafana in the African Nations Championship qualifiers. Mbule once again showed his enterprising play in Durban, pulling the strings in midfield.
Matsatsantsa’s strike partnership of Fagrie Lakay and Darren Smith lead the attack, after helping the Tshwane side beat Mamelodi Sundowns, 3-0.
