Stand by for Bollywood fest
BOLLYWOOD will be coming to Joburg this festive season with a weekend-long, true Indian experience at the Sandton Convention Centre.
The 2016 instalment of the annual Blu Blood Bollywood experience is scheduled from Friday to Sunday on the weekend of December 2 to 4.
It will bring Indian music, fashion, cuisine and comedy under one roof.
For the first time in Africa, Indian musician Sonu Nigam and Pakistani singer Atif Aslam will perform live together.
Blu Blood managing director Osman Osman is delighted to host the two music powerhouses in light of decades of conflict between India and Pakistan.
“We are hoping to make this an annual experience together with the Sandton Convention Centre and bring India to the heart of Joburg,” said Osman. For comedy lovers, The Kings and Queens of Comedy show is set to take place on December 3. The cream of the crop of Indian comedy will all be there to entertain the crowd. The star-studded line-up will feature the likes of Riaad Moosa, Krijay Govender, Simmi Areff and Leeanda Reddy.
Blu Blood chief executive Shaaista Khan Osman said: “Our visitors will get a feel of all that is Indian. Bollywood is colour, it is music, it is excite- ment brought to Joburg.
“The weekend is a reflection of Indian… It is a lifestyle and entertainment spectacular,” she added.
“It enlists local and international entertainers, celebrities and the like to celebrate the year in a Bollywood extravaganza from the Mela (shopping festival), fashion shows, South Africa’s comedy greats, the best in Indian cuisine, and the finale being the biggest names in Bollywood.”
Tickets are from R250 to R5 000 at Computicket.
