The most eagerly anticipated event

THE Gr1 SANSUI Summer Cup is shaping up to once again be the most eagerly anticipated event on the calendar with Turffontein Racecourse coming to life on 26 November.

This year’s renewal of the 2000m Grade One contest is being hailed as “The People’s Race” and tickets have already gone on sale for one of the biggest events of the Highveld racing season.

Last year’s race was won by Master Sabina, with jockey Gavin Lerena in the irons, and the Geoff Woodruff inmate has once again been entered in a bid to defend his mantle as champion.

Tickets start at just R75 for general access to the races on the day with secure infield parking and a R25 TAB betting voucher as part of the deal. There will be a number of food vendors as well as musical entertainment for ticket holders to enjoy.

Those looking for a more elegant experience can choose the Racing. It’s A Rush Summer Garden, that are R395 per person with the package including a burger meal, a complimentary beverage and a TAB betting voucher to the value of R25. This beautifully styled demarcated area will host private betting facilities, a private bar, toilets and musical entertainment will be on offer.

For R350 per person The Summer Bollywood Racing Experience promises to add a dash of colour to the Summer Cup proceedings. The chance to enjoy Indian entertainment with dancers, Mehndi artists and a host of local celebrities will be in attendance.

There’s the Summer Festival to consider for those looking to make a family day of it with the R250 purchase price including access for two adults and two children, who will receive a lucky packet and access to the kids play area, as well as a seven piece family meal and two R25 TAB betting vouchers.

Last, but not least, the Summer Vanity Fair is R150 per person and includes access into the specially demarcated area hosted by Funmasters. DJs, entertainment and surprise giveaways and also includes access to secure infield parking, private facilities and a R25 TAB betting voucher.
