THE 13TH annual Lake of Stars music festival promises to be nothing short of amazing and TRACE Africa will be there to catch all the excitement as it happens. The three-day internationally renowned event attracts music lovers from across the world and offers entertainment such as fashion shows, workshops and expos in addition to the main stage events throughout the three-day period.

Set to take place from Friday to Sunday on Lake Malawi, the festival boasts a line-up which includes the likes of Freshlyground, Roberto and Timo Maas.

Following the channel’s launch this month, TRACE Africa looks forward to being at the festival and using the event as an opportunity to engage artists from Malawi, southern Africa and the rest of the continent.

Along with DStv Malawi, which has been a partner for a number of years, TRACE Africa hopes to encourage artists from Malawi to make use of the channel as a means of improving their own careers and, by extension, the industry.

“We believe this move will contribute to the development of our continent’s entertainment industry, hopefully with a move towards more collaboration across the continent,” says TRACE Southern Africa Senior VicePresident, Leo Manne.

Lake of Stars was created 13 years ago by then tourist and volunteer, Will Jameson. The event has contributed to the promotion of cultural tourism in Malawi and its creative industries, exposing more than 600 million people to the country through extensive media coverage.

Many of the event staff are volunteers and a number of the performers take part in the shows to contribute to the local economy, getting paid very little to no money.

The festival has been listed by many as one of the top five must-attend events for all music lovers across the world. Some of the compelling cases made in favour of this include the beautiful destination – Lake Malawi – and its beautiful sunrises and sunsets, the great music and the amazing cause – the beautiful country of Malawi.

We can’t wait to bring you all the excitement from Lake of Stars!
