Minister must reveal truth on Sassa issue

- Fontainebleau

THE debacle of the SA Social Security Agency (Sassa) payment issue goes on and on. By doing nothing the illegal contract for CPS is guaranteed as by doing nothing, an emergency was created and this “created emergency” now forced the Constitutional Court to extend the illegal contract. We got a case where illegality dominates and undermines the law and the constitution.

Clever – the clever string pullers knew all this as it served and protected their self-interest and shows how shrewd, calculated, greedy and self-serving minds played their games. Quite simple in this case: if I do something I lose, if I do nothing I win. I bet they are watching a certain share price on the stock market as the illegal contract was “only” extended for one year and the shares took a knock. I thought inside trading is illegal, even if it is indirect.

It is clearly a vulturous attempt of enrichment at the expense of those in need. Those implicated don’t need money. They can obtain additional monetary luxury while in their highly paid “honourable” government positions. Now all the fingers are pointed at the minister. She was either told to do nothing or she agreed because she might be part of the whole cartel.

“Fire her.” No! First she must make a confession to the public protector to find out who and what is behind this and then she has to ask the taxpayers, with real tears in her eyes, if they are willing to forgive her. Paul Suter
