White capitalists: easy scapegoats?

- Weltevredenpark

I AM so tired of the ANC government and President Zuma, who are continually blaming their shortcomings on the “white capitalist”.

I see the South African capitalist as follows:

we have whites, Indians, blacks, coloureds and other races forming companies, at their own risk, and employing more than 80% of the South African population.

Collectively, these companies, contribute the most to the government coffers through the taxes paid on their companies’ profits, the taxes on their personal earnings, and through the income taxes paid by their employees.

All these people also contribute the majority of the 14% VAT fees. They are not a burden on the state as they have to pay for their own houses, cars, and travelling expenses.

We then have the “self-enrichment” government capitalists. They are the president, cabinet ministers, and the executives running the parastatals of government.

Besides, many of them not being qualified to earn their large salaries and bonuses, they are also provided with housing, cars, and travelling expenses. Many are also provided with security and blue light patrols.

Many of them are corrupt, and the corrupt government officials are hardly ever fired, but are deployed elsewhere in government. We must not forget many of them also receive lump sum payments.

A huge amount of our taxes are spent on defending the government and their officials, who are taken to court by opposition parties. Such a waste of the taxes.

Then we have certain companies run by the family and friends of the president and other ANC officials who receive government tenders.

In most cases, these companies are unable to carry out the tender requirements, and have to get help from sub-contractors, therefore, these tenders are paid at inflated prices to accommodate this weakness.

In conclusion, I would like to suggest to the president that he looks at the failings of a corrupt ANC government of which he is the head.

Sir, besides the corruption of your government, you have an oversized cabinet and public service, which consumes a large amount of the country’s taxes, hence there are very little taxes over to improve the lives of the poor of our country.

It is not the responsibility of the citizens and companies to look after the poor, it is the government that has to spend the taxes wisely.

So please, Mr President and ANC members stop flouting that “white capitalist” slogan, it is past its sell-by date. Gordon Dally
