Taking place from May 1 to May 5, 2024, at The KZN National Botanical Gardens in Pietermaritzburg, Art in the Park is set to captivate visitors with an array of new elements that will make it an unforgettable experience.

One of the most exciting additions to this year’s event is the introduction of “Author’s Corner”.

This dedicated space will feature renowned local authors who will showcase their literary works. Visitors will have a unique opportunity to engage with these authors through book signings, discussions, and even participate in creative writing workshops.

Whether you’re a literature lover or aspiring writer yourself, Author’s Corner is sure to inspire and enrich your artistic journey.

Fashion enthusiasts are in for a treat as Art in the Park introduces a brand-new fashion element. Local designers will display their latest creations on the runway during scheduled fashion shows throughout the event. From traditional African attire to contemporary designs that push boundaries, this fusion of art and fashion promises an exciting visual spectacle.

Movie nights under the stars provide yet another element that sets this year’s Art in the Park apart. Visitors can bring their blankets as they enjoy screenings of classic films as well as locally produced movies showcasing KwaZulu Natal’s talent. The enchanting ambiance created by nature combined with cinematic masterpieces promises unforgettable evenings for film enthusiasts of all ages.

In addition to these new elements, one cannot forget about Schools Thursday — an initiative aimed at promoting arts education among young learners.

On May 2, local schools are invited to participate by performing their preferred pieces by their talented students, parents are encouraged to come and support the kids. Schools Thursday not only showcases schools talent but also nurtures creativity within our younger generation.
