True Love

K.O talks about his latest album, SR2.

-

This album has a new approach in terms of sound; it isn’t as gritty as the last one. It’s more melodic and I’m doing other things vocally – it’s reminiscent of my style back when I was part of the hip-hop group Teargas. Now I’ve given it a modern interpretation.

I feel I’ve been misunderstood and decided to open up. So, with this album, people will get to know my personal story. It’s a biographical album: from my parents to my upbringing and siblings, you’re going to feel as if you’re on my journey with me.

This is my 11th year in the music industry. People don’t know anything about me beyond K.O from Teargas or K.O of Caracara. My idols, like Jay Z, have offered their backstory. I feel that if I can activate mine, I’ll be able to resonate a bit more with people.

My clothing label called Skhanda Republic, is out now. I hope that by December it will be one of the main street clothing labels in the country.

I’m also busy with my own record label of the same name.
