Around The Home

-

It’s not just the inside of our homes where care regarding hygiene standards is needed; it’s outside, too. Much of your leisure time is spent outdoors, so when you’re entertaining at the braai, or away from home, you will want to ensure that your own high standards are adhered to. Your holiday must be fun-filled and relaxing for the whole family. Protecting your family’s health means addressing those areas around the home where germs and bacteria lurk. Your go-to cleaning and hygiene experts – the MAQ Trio – provide a cleaning kit for every nook and cranny of your home. Here’s how to use it.

1. Outside braai

The Sunday braai is a family institution. But handling food outside needs special care and attention. Ensure that work surfaces are thoroughly cleaned – MAQ Cream Cleaner and MAQ Thick Bleach will clean and disinfect braai areas.

Keep foodstuffs covered, to prevent flies; and in very hot weather, store uncooked meat in a cool-box before it is placed on the braai. To clean the braai and grill, scrub with MAQ Cream Cleaner and wipe over with a solution of MAQ Thick Bleach.

After washing braai utensils, add a few drops of MAQ Thick Bleach to the final rinse water. Soak for 10 minutes, then rinse dry.

2. Outside bins

Empty waste-paper baskets, pedal bins and the dustbin. Rinse pedal bins and the dustbin with a solution of MAQ Thick Bleach. Leave the lids open for drying.

3. Outside drains

Pour neat MAQ Thick Bleach into drains. Leave for three minutes, then flush. This will kill germs, remove grease and prevent unpleasant smells.

4. Kids changing mat

If a plastic changing mat is used, this should be washed and disinfected daily. Wash in a warm, sudsy solution of MAQ Dishwashing Liquid and follow up with a few drops of MAQ Thick Bleach in the final rinse. Rinse well and dry.

5. Kids’ pets

Hutches and cages must be cleaned weekly. Change floor grit or bedding, and then wash inside and out with a solution of MAQ Thick Bleach. Allow to dry before returning your pet to his or her home.
