HAIR MOOD BOARD

-

The beginning of the year set the mood for hair for the season with the bevy of red-carpet events that took place. Stars hit the red carpet determined to reveal major hair transformations that rivalled the usual dos. From edgy blunt bobs and choppy strands to supersized hair lengths, you won’t be short of inspiration. We’ve done the groundwork and rounded up eight of our favourite celeb hair muses for winter 2024.

AYO EDEBIRI

This is no doubt the year of the bob! Ayo’s chin-length bob was parted in the middle and ended just below her chin with a slightly flicked-out finish. Since a straightened wand will be your bestie with this style, it’s important to invest in a styling mousse to protect your hair.

ZENDAYA

Another day, another Zendaya slay. The Euphoria star took her new Audrey Hepburn-inspired bangs out for a stroll at Paris Fashion Week. The style is better suited for oval or heart-shaped faces but if you insist, make sure the bang is not too heavy and breaks your face.

HALLE BAILEY

Halle is well-known for her waist-length locks styled up or down. This year, she took a break from the length and showed that even Afro textures can rock the bob. To maintain this style, invest in some rollers to set hair straight after washing and avoid heat at all costs.

JADA PINKETT SMITH

Jada is no stranger to hair colour, alternating between various shades to give her signature buzz cut a fresh spin. She recently debuted with a peach-pink colour that goes perfectly with her skin tone. Embrace the latte trend and play with various browns and coppers for the ultimate glow-up.

CIARA

It’s no secret that this muso and mommy of four loves braids and faux locks. Her quick fix for the style had us swooning. Hair is parted into six and plaited down using enough fibre to make it look exaggerated, and voila! Make sure your hair is washed and scalp oiled beforehand.

LUPITA NYONG’O

Lupita is back with her futuristic Afro-inspired styles. She recently created a halo out of locks that she wore like an Alice band – proof that kinky hair can be versatile, too. To create hair accessories, use Afro fibre and play with the placement to create different heights and lengths.

BEYONCÉ

Queen Bey showed us that blondes have more fun with her super long platinum blonde hair. It’s giving Targaryen blonde (Game of Thrones). To maintain bleached hair or your wig and weave, invest in a colour-preserving shampoo and conditioner to prevent it from going ashy.

TRACEE ELLIS ROSS

Known for her signature curls and exaggerated plaits, Tracee is a true hair chameleon. This season, she traded in the old for a new sleek ponytail with a longer-than-life length. This look is achievable no matter the length of your natural hair. Attach hair extensions to your ponytail to create all types of looks.
