On Friday 8 August, we find out who kidnapped Dineo Dlomo (Katlego Danke). No surprises: it’s her ex Kenneth Mashaba (Seputla Sebogodi). And it gets worse: Kenny’s not the only enemy she needs to worry about – he’s working with sadistic Sello (Carlo Radebe)!

REVENGE IS SWEET

“Sello’s been at the tail-end of the power ladder, biding his time for the next big deal that will put him back on the level to exact revenge on Sibusiso Dlomo (Menzi Ngubane),” says Carlo on his character’s whereabouts since we last saw Sello in August 2013. And what better way to get back at his biggest enemy than team up with Sibusiso’s biggest rival Kenneth? But how does Dineo fit in? Yes, she ruined Sello’s life in 2012 when she accused him of being a rapist after their encounter at The Three Towers hotel, where he tried to force himself on her, but doesn’t the fact that he’s lost an eye to Sibusiso’s “Ngamla Mark” mean that Sello’s been through worse? “He’s changed,” explains Carlo. “He believes in letting bygones be bygones. That [rape story] was long ago.”

UNLIKELY ALLIES

While Sello’s in it for his own reasons, it seems that Kenneth’s jail stay has made him crave retribution more. “One can’t expect to do something to Kenneth and walk away an angel. He’s the devil and to quote his words, ‘Those who cross paths

TWO AGAINST ONE

with me will pay one by one’,” Seputla explains. “Kenneth wants Dineo to feel what he felt when he was wrongfully arrested. She must relive his life in jail.” That explains why, on Tuesday 12 August, Kenneth decides to drag out the torture as long as possible. Dineo can’t identify her captors and he’s the last person she suspects since they’ve been getting cosy.

Meanwhile, Carlo says of the unlikely alliance with the character that viewers consider evil personified (Kenneth): “Misery loves company. Sello plots with Kenneth in the hopes that this is only one of many more evil plots he will partake in that will eventually find Sibusiso in the direct line of fire for the final takedown.” As a helpless Dineo lies in a cold, dingy dungeon, she has no idea what trouble she’s in with two enemies cornering her. “Sello returns an even more broken man in desperate need of a protector and benefactor in the form of Kenneth. Once Sello’s regained his power, a new and evil empire will be born and he will be better understood as a villain, hailed in some quarters as saintly,” says Carlo. As for Kenneth, he’s enjoyed destroying the Dlomos’ reputation and hopes to have the same success with Dineo.
