ormal people make lists of things to do, groceries to buy, a checklist before going on holiday. but not fbi profiler elizabeth keen (megan boone) and ex-intelligence agent-turned-criminal raymond “red” reddington (james spader). in the blacklist (2013-current), they’re ticking off names of criminals, killers and other bad guys who’ve been almost impossible to catch.
we left off on 17 june this year with liz’s hubby tom (ryan eggold) being shot and a plane full of prisoners going down in flames, although many of them survived and are now on the run. red also told liz that her dad is definitely dead despite tom saying otherwise. however, dangerous kgb agent berlin (peter stormare), who has a pocketwatch with a photo of a little girl, just like red, is now on the run. could the show be teasing us that berlin is actually liz’s dad?
it looks like the action’s only going to get hotter, more twisted and more intense in season 2. but should liz trust her partner more now, given how red manipulated her and the fbi through season 1? “i don’t know if he is a different person,” says james. “i think he’s the same person, but the circumstances he’s putting himself into are certainly new to him from what has preceded.” so what lies ahead and who’ll be visiting in season 2?

liz is annulling her marriage because it was nothing but lies – tom was an undercover agent, had ties to berlin and he kidnapped liz and tried to kill her. not that it surprised megan: “i always knew tom was more than he seemed. the show would’ve suffered if tom was just a school teacher.” luckily liz is a hotshot with guns (pun intended) and put three bullets in him in the season 1 finale…
…but tom’s body disappeared. the swat team rescued liz but when they went to the room where tom was shot… poof! his body was gone. we don’t know if he died and someone moved his body or if tom – or whatever his real name is – is alive and managed to escape. in the first episode of season 2, liz is going to have nightmares about him and tom’s linked to episode 4’s criminal dr linus creel, a psychologist who creates situations that endanger his patients so that he can continue his research into genetic
