Return of the babysnatcher

Baby pitsi’s back in turfloop and needs a nanny. but why does she look so familiar?

-

itsi’s (junior jiyane) arrival in turfloop on wednesday 19 november after living with his grandparents (his mom’s dad and step-mom) in ga-mashashane is a good thing. “the maputlas adore pitsi, more so because they thought they might lose him,” says africa tsoai, who plays grampa john. remember the crazy lady snatching tbose and mapitsi’s (cornet mamabolo and mogau mothlatswi) son last year? for weeks, mrs nkadimeng (ferry jele) pretended that the baby was hers after losing her own child. she lied to her hubby, kids and even the police, but that wasn’t enough to stop her doc, husband and the cops from connecting the dots.

“they’re happy that pitsi’s coming, but they’re stressed because they need a nanny,” says africa. “this is a funny one,” says harriet. “tbose and john keep insisting that they hire alice, a nanny who once took care of pitsi. but meikie isn’t having any of that. she’s convinced that alice had a crush on john and that those feelings were reciprocated… so she’s firm that alice won’t get the job.” instead, she gets an agency to bring nannies for interviews, unaware that mrs nkadimeng is one.

meikie runs out of time and before she knows it, pitsi’s dropped off on thursday 20 november. after exhausting any and all avenues, pitsi reacts to a lady – mrs nkadimeng – who comes for the job. “pitsi loves her and they instantly hit it off,” says harriet. but it’s only because she was the first mother he knew when she abducted him a year ago. “no one recognises her because the police are the only ones who had contact with her.” looks like the enemy’s returned…
