ccidents happen, as bill (don diamont) finds out when he has a neardeath experience while holidaying in aspen with fiancée brooke (katherine kelly lang) on friday 21 november. ever the adventurous tourist, bill goes rock climbing but loses his footing and almost falls, prompting him to come to a drastic and dramatic realisation: that he wants to ditch brooke for his estranged ex-wife katie (heather tom), who’s been giving him a hard time lately about seeing their son will. and just how did the devious – and often cold and calculatingly emotionless – bill come to this conclusion? nearly dying causes bill to see his life to flash before his eyes, he tells his family on tuesday 25 november.

bill’s no saint, so having your somewhat shady past suddenly flash before you would mean that he’d have to recall how he only bonded with his two adult sons liam and wyatt (scott clifton and darin brooks) as grown men. and let’s not even get started on the parade of ladies the former womaniser must’ve had trampling (emphasis on the word tramp) through his bedroom over the years. but the bottom line is that bill feels it’s time to learn from the mistakes of the past and be there for his other son, little will. and to do that, he needs to ditch brooke and reunite with will’s mom. “the best thing about playing this character is that he’s always walking the line. he’s a conflicted guy, emotionally challenged and he’s very complicated,” don says of bill’s sudden change of heart.
