Crystal puts her assistant Shaun to the test by getting him to style for a charity event. how did you get involved with 7de laan? alex: danie odendaal, the soap creator, saw an article on us in a newspaper and contacted us. we were on set for a week in september. so how was your first day as “actors”? charlie: we were quite nervous and spent most of our time in our dressing room when we weren’t called to be on set. alex: we may come across as though we have big personalities, but we’re actually very shy. things were easier the second day on set and then we started chatting to everyone. tell us more about the characters you play. charlie: we play models jacques [alex] and jean [charlie] who’re contracted by bruynwaves for the cosmetique chantal advertising campaign. alex: our characters flirt a lot with kristin (loriska bubb), which then makes altus (heino schmitt) uncomfortable. what other projects are you working on? alex: we’re in talks with kyknet to host a diy show next year, but nothing’s set in stone yet. you’re farmers and fitness models. how do you stay so in shape? alex: we eat healthily and exercise a lot. we eat seven meals per day – portions the size of your hand. and we go to the gym three to five times a week. it’s all about keeping a balance. charlie: we also stay away from alcohol. it has a negative effect on you if you drink too often. nb! see more on p20 & 22.
