Smallville

-

she’s blonde and beautiful, but smallville (2001-2011) actress laura vandervoort is anything but a girly girl. her role as supergirl (aka kara zor-el) complements her real-life personality perfectly – tough, adventurous but caring. there’s more to this 30-year-old than you’d guess… born in canada in 1984, she almost didn’t live long enough to become a tv star. she was only a few days old when she contracted a serious case of meningitis and doctors told laura’s mom and dad that she wouldn’t survive. laura’s acting career started at age six when she appeared as a background character in canadian tv ads. she studied psychology and english at york university in 2002 and got her first leading role in 2004, in canadian series instant star (2004-2008). she’s athletic and tries to do her own stunts whenever she’s allowed to. and she’s always been active – in high school, laura played soccer, baseball, tennis and basketball. she’s also a gymnast and has a second-degree black belt in karate. she’s busy writing a children’s book called super duper deelia, which is aimed at young girls aged 7 to 12. laura’s a vegan and has appeared in a number of peta ad campaigns. she has two adopted dogs – a maltese cross named frankie and a french bulldog cross named georgie. sorry boys, the blonde beauty is spoken for – she got engaged to little-known british actor/tv presenter oliver trevena in february this year after less than a year of dating. it seems that laura’s career is tvorientated, even when she’s making movies. of her 20 movie roles, 12 of her films have been tv movies and didn’t screen at cinemas.

?? ?? whether it’s supergirl or peta activist, laura
has done it all.
