ISIDINGO’S DODGY DEAL!

BRAD JOINS EVIL UNCLE BARKER!

-

d esperate times call for desperate measures and bradley (izak davel) is desperate! with his rugby career in tatters and his personal life even worse, the haines youngster turns to the one man he’s been fighting against since day one: shady uncle barker (robert whitehead).

what’s the catch?

thursday 13 november sees brad join the family business 10 months after barker first tried to get the ex rugby star to come onboard as a business partner. while it would be a dream come true for most, to bradley it’s the final option to get his life back on track. “he gets to the point where he has to decide where to next,” izak says. “his rugby career is finished thanks to his knee injury and because he shot and killed his dad in april. it’s time to get real about life and he explores the possibility of working for his uncle.” but taking barker up on any offer is never a clean-cut deal. a catch is always hiding in the fine print… and it’s usually got legal implications.

how low can you go?

however, izak’s adamant that his character won’t cross the legal lines – yet. “it’s a turning point, for sure. but not to the evil side.” izak adds that “brad refuses to do anything illegal that could possibly endanger other peoples’ lives. he’ll pack his bags if he’s involved with anything illegal.” either way, brad will be dragged into the battle between barker and the sibekos for the deep’s hugely profitable mining sector.

big, bad barker

on friday 14 november, barker sets off on a dodgy mission to bring the sibekos to their knees and it involves a little help from a dodgy friend – georgie zamdela (darlington michaels). in a bid to cripple the sibeko gold mining empire, barker asks bra g to organise a shutdown of the main taxi routes to the mines, leaving sibeko gold without workers. the results are devastating and it isn’t long before lincoln sibeko (lindani nkosi) and the community start to feel the pinch.

meanwhile, brad’s blissfully unaware of his uncle’s underhandedness, for now… “eventually he questions barker because he’s suspicious,” izak explains. but the actor admits that brad’s still too naïve. “he’s always been ignorant towards his uncle’s real being. he believes that barker isn’t entirely bad.”

he’s going down

brad might be a goodie-two-shoes, but that won’t stop barker from trying to turn his nephew into an evil mini-me clone. “he becomes more business-like and a bit more stubborn, but he doesn’t lose his human side. he’ll learn to be stronger, but he will also learn to do sly deals,” izak adds. so will brad go from the guy next door to the devil in disguise? izak hints that “he has a softer heart than barker, but who knows?”
