Jamie and jimmy’s food fight club

TV Plus (South Africa) - - 17 DECEMBER -

radio star Chris moyles fires up his favourite food – an authentic new York-style pizza. then Jamie does a mash-up by combining a roast with a curry. what’s it like being back in the spotlight? it’s challenging, hey. today’s youth aren’t the same to entertain. but it’s amazing how many doors have been opening for me. like mutual friends! tell us about your character. i play patty, who’s in her early 50s. she’s a hasbeen celebrity of the ’80s and keeps going on about her “wild days”. she’s still a party animal even though she has a family at home. how similar are you to the character? we’re both moms in our 50s raising teen boys. and we’re go-getters. how are you different from her? patty’s not in touch with reality. she’s abusive and an alcoholic who lives in the past. i don’t drink, so i had to do a lot of research, especially on abuse towards men. and what’s the best part about playing patty? getting to be a different person. i love acting because you can be anybody at any time and get in touch with other worlds. it’s taxing and exciting all at once. how’s she different from the other characters you’ve played? on generations i was this rich model-like girl. now i’m acting my age and relate to a whole lot of things. what was it like working with such a big cast on mutual friends? i never really got to work with luthuli (dlamini, who plays dr zweli dlamini) and i’m a fan. working with neo ntlatleng (who plays sizwe) as my son has improved my relationship with my own son oratile, who’s 15.
