intle setuke (mapaseka koetle) wasn’t born to be poor. and in her mind, she wasn’t born to work for her money either. she’s a kardashian, not beyoncé! “she wants a shortcut to a great life, to be a housewife and do her nails and have facials and nice clothes, a gucci bag. and she doesn’t want to create that life herself; she wants a man to do it for her. she wants to be famous for nothing and just chill and have a reality show,” says mapaseka. so on friday 2 january, dintle set her sights on a new mr right – mangi nyathi (kagiso modupe).

this comes just after thembeka (masasa mbangeni) warned dintle off Quinton (brighton ngoma). “thembeka didn’t see her kissing Quinton but she already saw that dintle wants Quinton for his money. dintle is a bit younger and a bit ghetto. thembeka’s smarter and older and more mature, but it definitely takes one to know one,” laughs mapaseka.
thembeka might’ve been sneering when she suggested that dintle aim a bit lower for “someone more suited to her”, like jailbird mangi, but dintle’s not turning up her nose. she’s had worse: scelo (mbulelo ndlazilwana) the schoolboy in 2013, bongani (katt ramaphakela) the pimp in may 2014 and kila (siyabonga shibe), who just wasn’t that into her after saving her from bongani. “with bongani, dintle didn’t do her research. but so many people around her, like ndumiso (andile sithole) and Quinton, know mangi and the nyathis, so she actually knows what type of person mangi is,” says mapaseka.
a whim & a prayer
on wednesday 7 january, dintle figures out how to weasel her way into mangi’s life: with prayer. with a spot on maletsatsi’ssi’s (joyce skefu) group of prison visitors and a bible in hand, she sets out to do good… for herself. she just needs a little make-under first. maletsatsi takes one look at what dintle’s wearing on friday 9 january and sends her to change. “she’s wearing a short dress that shows a lot of cleavage. but maletsatsi told dintle that they wouldn’t be dressing up for prison, so she wears a long dress. but still she puts make-up on and makes sure that her hair is fine,” says mapaseka. “she definitely looks like she prays and reads her bible.”
newsflash: she doesn’t! “when dintle first goes to jail, it’s so funny because she doesn’t know even one bible verse,” says mapaseka. “she even pretends to know how to pray – she knows nothing. dintle doesn’t even know the national anthem.” tune in on monday 12 january to see how she wiggles out of that one. but rest assured the moment that she gets mangi alone, dintle’s make-under is so over!
