A rocky rebound
Paula turns to the internet in search of new love but finds herself in the middle of a fight instead.

aula (diaan lawrenson) is no pushover, but altus’s (heino schmitt) infidelity in november last year hurt her deeply and, for now, there’s no hope of reconciliation. so to forget about the pain and make altie jealous, paula decides to look for love online. after all, she’s a vlogger and a celebrity, so why not try a bit of internet dating?
on tuesday 6 january, she goes on a date with richard (gerhard odendaal) but it turns out that they have nothing in common. paula wants to avoid him but on thursday 8 january, he comes looking for her in oppiekoffie and that’s when things get violent.
caught in the middle
diaan says that paula gets the fright of her life when she spots richard. “there was no connection between her and richard and he’s way too vulgar and common to keep up with paula.” she has to think fast when he spots her. “she quickly grabs marko’s (francois lensley) arm and introduces him to richard as her boyfriend,” diaan adds. francois says that marko’s completely taken by surprise. “he’s confused but quickly picks up on the fact that paula just wants him to play along in order to get the guy off her back.”
but richard isn’t going to give paula up that quickly and he starts getting aggressive. “marko’s always ready for a fight and when the guy starts throwing punches left and right, marko fights back,” he says. paula tries to stop the guys but unfortunately she gets caught in the crossfire and is punched, leaving her with a shiner.
worth a try?
paula has deep regrets following the brawl. “she’s embarrassed about the fight in oppiekoffie and realises that she’s kidding herself. she’s vulnerable and yearns for altie, but she can’t bring herself to forgive him,” diaan says.
on monday 12 january, altus hears about the incident between marko and paula and he makes it clear to marko that he should keep his hands to himself. but francois explains that his character doesn’t take altus’s threats too seriously. “he even laughs when
